 Progress against SSA Goals

In Giridih district we have achieved the target of universal access by opening of 1926 new primary school in unserved habitation and 1062 upper primary school  by upgrading existing primary schools. Among upgraded primary school 96 were also upgraded into UMS. The district is near about to fulfill the gap of 2:1.
We have also recruited two community teacher in all new primary school having qualification intermediate and additional 3 community teacher in all upgraded upper primary school having qualification not less than B.Sc. This has considerably solved the problem of universal access to focus age group children.

There has been considerable increase in completion & transition rate of children due to various intervention under SSA such as supply of free text to focus group children, provision of community teacher on the basis of 40:1, training of regular govt. teacher and community teacher, mid day meal, construction of  additional class room, construction of toilet, Hand pump etc. Improvement in completion and transition rate has considerable reduced drop out rate.

1.New School Openning

EGS were opened for the purpose on the basis of Hould Hold Survey/ Micro planning. After successful running of EGS up to two years the centres were upgraded into primary formal school. These schools were provided with two teachers selected by the community with TLE grant of Rs 10000/- .
Likewise to ensure Upper primary education 835 primary schools were upgraded into upgraded

16.Community Mobilization

Education is an important tool for social change. It requires people’s participation. People’s participation is a must for Universalisation of Primary Education. An aware mass can change the social milieu by joining hands. together.
Whenever school management and child development is discussed, parental community comes into light. Active involvement of parents in school activities helps the enrolment of children and their retention in school. When a child retains and learns his/her achievement level goes up.
In post independence decade’s plans were formulated by limited persons having no beneficiaries. Thereafter it was thrust upon the community, without considering that if this would be useful. This generated the relationship of provider and recipient. Community used to look upwards for the remedy, that was existing among them.
JEP’s intervention through Micro-level planning and constitution of Village Education Committees, Mata Samities created a feeling of ownership. They realize now that the formal or alternative school is meant for raising the standard of living of their children and the community at large. In fact efforts of the Project has generated the need of education in the community. Six members of each VECs are provided 4 days non-residential trg. for capacity building, Cumulative achievement up to 2008-09 is given below:
